Re: SHORT Book List
Hmmm, I got this book via academia.edu. I thought they send only papers that are for free publication. Now they send me the Master Handbook, so I googled the book I posted here and it seems to be a work that is sold by Amazon, so probably this is an copyright infringement? Then I'll delete it of, of...

Re: Air Gap Discussion
You can use it this way: If you have a source powerlevel of, say, 100 dB(A) you can correct for a specific spectrum by subtracting that spectrum. So for a popspectrum: 63 Hz - 100 dB(A) minus 27 dB = 73 dB 125 Hz - 100 dB(A) minus 14 dB = 86 dB, etc When you energetically sum these data you'll get t...

Re: Air Gap Discussion
Interesting random pic bert! On another forum deedeeyah posted spectra of presumably large gigs. Pronounced HF roll off. I have looked at Erics Baffles and Ethans fibre tests. The reason I started this ball rolling here is that I am not at all convinced that isolated panels do benefit from airgaps....

Re: Air Gap Discussion
I think Stuart explains it good. I add a document Eric Desart made that might give more feeling about this stuff. Edit: Ok, that doesn't work. Why can't I post an PDF attachment? Not sure, Bert! You SHOULD be able to post PDF! I have PDF posting enabled for all users... In fact, the forum allows pr...

Re: Air Gap Discussion
I would like to start a little discussion of the Air Gap. A suspended ceiling with say 1" Fibre tiles and a 16" Air Gap performs remarkably well, very high absorption down as far as 50Hz. Note the whole boundary is treated. But consider a typical Cloud, say four 4"x4'x2'. In this cas...

C QRD-Diffusion-lobing--pattern-graph-SML-ENH-2.PNGThe diffuser is down the bottom of the photo, and the drunk mangled rainbow pattern represents the results of the diffusion, in terms of the phase (the same happens in frequency, time, and intensity, all overlaid in the same space). - Stuart - Can ...

Re: SHORT Book List
I must admit, I was rather disappointed with Newell's book when I read it. I got the impression that a lot of it was along the lines of "look what a hugely complex but very wonderful job I did here isolating this place, me, personally, myself, so complicated...", with some rather convolut...

Re: Architects and churches...
A couple of years ago Chris Whealy of porous absorber calculator fame visited me. He also had to cope with the acoustics of a church. He gave me the book withh the revealing title: Deaf Architects & Blind Acousticians.
