Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room

I put your measurements into Sketchup, traced side walls lines till they meet, measured the angle, which is about 11.5º, and traced a line al 5.75º, the half of them both. Then I took measurements from right side wall to this center line, and that is your new center. I almost match the center of bot...

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room

Hey civvie, I've been thinking, while looking at the last measurements: what if you twist your desk and monitors a little, in order to end up centered between side walls, regardless front and back walls? I don't really know how much difference could it make, but it sure will be interesting to compar...

Sorry about that. I meant RT, in regard to reverberation time. But, as my native language is Spanish, here we say 'tiempo de reverberación' (TR), so I messed it up.

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room

2464 Rebuilding the walls is probably a bit beyond the scope of what I can aim for at this stage. It is a rented studio and I don't expect to be here for a long time, but I want to do what I can within a reasonable budget, say £1-2k. I'll be doing the building myself with a friend. I understand per...

Treatment for (slightly) odd shaped mix room

Greetings civvie, Some things you should do in order to achieve your goals is: - Improve room symmetry: Is it possible to angle both front and rear wall? It would give you better imaging. Symmetry is a very important aspect of listening rooms. Something like this: Room Dimensions.jpg - Improve speak...

Hi Alan! Answering your question, and roughly based on mass law, your glass might have 181mm thickness to have same isolation properties as 215mm dense concrete. Here's how I got that number: Concrete block density: 2100 kg/m3 Concrete block thickness: 0,215 m Concrete block 0,215m thick surface den...

Recording & Mixing Studio in Argentina

Hello folks! It's been some time since last posts. We're about to start the inner leaf construction as the original plan was, because, based on some noise measurements and calculations, and following Stuart advices, I realized it would be a very good improvement in isolation and it is worth. Based o...

What kind of magic is this?

Hello folks! Yesterday, surfing the Internet, from a YT channel I follow, which usually uploads good stuff, I found the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Stf_PGLVKI The headline says PRODUCING MUSIC WITHOUT ANNOYING YOU NEIGHBOURS?!? Basically it's all about a system that integrates ...

Greetings and a Question or two (or three)

Hi Paul,

That last layout looks really good! Which are the dimensions for your space now?

And I also agree with Starlight about doors and space optimization.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Stuart! I appreciate very much your time and effort answering. Your words are wisdom here :D 1942 That's a pretty big cloud! If you have it hard backed, by estimator says the total weight will be around 250 kg. With no hard back, it comes down to around 120 kg. That assumes you build it with 2x4s...

Hi Paul,

Thank you! I'm looking there then. Rod's book is a must read, many times. Always finding new stuff there, and it's been a year since last reading, so It's a good chance to read it again.

Best regards!

UPDATE Hi folks, I've been thinking if the inner leaf at control room is really necessary in our case, or if it would be better to take advantage of the room it would take, and the money too. I'm just talking about the control room, where our goal is sound doesn't get off from the room, but we don't...

Wow Stuart, it's awesome how close the prediction was! Last week I took some measurements at my temporary studio, at home (until COVID19 allow us going out to work again) and the prediction isn't that close. But I'm amazed how it is in this case! It's a prove that it works.

Cheers,

Eric
